Children’s Sacred Space...
A workshop for children of all ages.

Children's Sacred Space are spontaneous workshops provided at gatherings that invites families to join in a experiential activity with art as the medium for relationship building. In Children's Sacred Space, we are all one and there is no hierarchy. Adults can join in and play as children, leaving the need to be in control outside the circle. We create a space that is free of fear or rule, except our own self rule. True Anarchy survives in a child's heart. When we all return to that place in our hearts, harmony abides, teaching each other the simple joys of child's play.

We open Children’s Sacred Space with smudging, sharing about ourselves and setting the boundaries within the circle while answering the question, “What makes you feel safe when you play with others?” As we create, the group is self-monitoring, exploring ways of being that are respectful to resolve any conflict as a group. As creativity progresses, we share stories, entertaining each other with our individual skills and talents.
Children’s Sacred Space has spontaneously appeared at Sherwood Forest on the Willapa, Dancing Dragons, Cultureseed, the Okanogan Barter Faire and other family gatherings around the Puget Sound.
In March 2006, Maureen traveled to Nayarit, Mexico and created Children's Sacred Space with Huichol children from the San Andres Community. Hopefully, I will set up a page soon to show more photos but here you can see the children enjoying the templates and beads.
